Maui Pride Sponsors Free LGBTQ Beach BBQ
By Maui Now Staff
This Saturday, June 21, the Maui AIDS Foundation and the Maui Pride Organization join forces to present the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgender/Transsexual, Queer) Beach BBQ.
Free to all, the event is a way for organizers to “give back and bring the community together.”
What’s a beach BBQ without food?
Maui Pride, with assistance from MAF, is providing hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers and bottled water; and all attendees are asked to bring their favorite side dish, appetizer, dessert or non-alcoholic beverage to share.
This event is family-friendly and open to all ages.
There will be games including a water-balloon toss and those planning on participating are encouraged to bring a towel as well as wear a swim suit or clothing in which they’re comfortable getting wet.
The LGBTQ Beach BBQ will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on the northwest side of Kalama Park at the picnic tables under the covered pavilion next to the baseball diamonds.
Picnic tables notwithstanding, attendees are encouraged to bring beach chairs for more comfortable seating in the grass areas.
