By Maui Now Staff
Guests and crew aboard the New Piper vessel brought in a 484 pound marlin, caught not too far out from Māʻalaea Harbor on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014.
The catch was reeled in after a 30 minute fight by Allyson Rose (second from left) from San Francisco, Calif., along with Captain Jeff Kahl, crewman Chimo Shipp, and Rose’s friend.
The New Piper is a 47-foot Cabo sportfishing vessel that offers full and half-day excursions.
Captain Kahl founded and hosts The Halloween Shootout, one of Hawaiʻi’s biggest marlin tournaments.
