Target has already attracted 1,100 applicants online, and had hundreds of interested job seekers attend the first day of a four-day job fair on Maui today.
The retailer is looking to hire approximately 250 team members for its new Kahului store at the future Puʻunēnē Shopping Center, which is currently under construction and is set to open in March, 2015.
Scott Hayes, the store team leader for the Kahului store said he’s very pleased with the response so far.
The retailer is hosting a job fair from Thursday, Dec. 4 to Sunday, Dec. 7, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Interested applicants are encouraged to visit Target.com/careers to apply in advance.
Store managers will receive the store on Jan. 15 for interior set up, stocking and training. The grand opening for the Kahului store is scheduled to take place on March 8, 2015.
“With the hiring of 250 team members, it will definitely help the tax base; it will help with employment; and it will also affect vendors. We go to great lengths to get as much merchandise as we can from as many local vendors as we can,” said Hayes.
“We’re very excited for Target to be here. The response has been overwhelming, and we are very excited for March 8th to come for our grand opening,” said Hayes.
