The County of Maui Department of Environmental Management is seeking public proposals and applications to utilize an estimated $237,000 in recycling grant funds. In complement to the request for grant proposals, a grant application workshop will be held Feb. 6, 2015, at 3 p.m, in Ste. 602 of the One Main Plaza conference room.

Any proposed projects must agree with the goals of DEM, the Solid Waste Division, and the Recycling Section, and focus on landfill diversion in some way. Projects such as recycling education, equipment upgrades, program expansion and the collection or processing of recyclable materials are examples of proposed plans that could qualify for the grant. However, projects are not limited to these options.

To apply, visit www.mauicounty.gov/recycle online or pick up a paper application at the DEM Solid Waste Division, Recycling Section at One Main Plaza, 2200 Main St., Ste. 200, in Wailuku between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
