Lāhainā Man Dies as Result of Dec. 29 Incident

The Maui County Police Department has reported a fatality today that resulted from an accident on Dec. 29, 2014.

Lāhainā Patrol officers arrived at approximately 4:19 p.m. in response to a report of a man being pulled to the shore at the beach fronting 110 Kā‘anapali Shores Place in Kā‘anapali.

Upon police arrival, several surfers were seen approximately 100 feet off shore with the
victim, doing chest compressions while making their way in.

Police took over lifesaving measures until relieved by fire personnel.

The victim, later identified as Andrea Delia, 46, of Lāhainā, was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition. On Jan. 7, 2015, Delia died as a result of this incident.
