Maui County’s Unemployment Rate Lower Than US Average
The Hawaiʻi State Department of Labor & Industrial Relations recently announced that the state’s unemployment rate–not seasonally adjusted–was 3.9%, compared to the US rate of 5.6%.
Maui County ranked a bit higher than the state unemployment average at 4.1%, with individual Maui County Islands weighing in at a wide range of rates. Molokaʻi was at the top of the county’s unemployment rate at 7.7%. Maui Island was next highest at 4.1%, followed by Lānaʻi at 3.8%.
The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March 2015 was 4.1 percent–the same as in January and February.
Statewide in March, 648,050 were employed and 27,700 unemployed, for a total seasonally adjusted labor force of 675,750.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.5 percent in March, the same as in February.
