Maui Takes Batting Champ Crown at PONY Mustang World Series
At the conclusion of the championship game between Corpus Christi, TX and Chesterfield, VA (TX won 15-11), Maui All-Star Levi Maddela was crowned Batting Champ of the 2015 PONY Mustang World Series. Maddela hit .818 with 6 HRs, 11 RBIs and 8 runs scored. In the West Zone tournament, Maddela hit .642 with 1 HR (grand slam), 10 RBIs and 5 runs scored.
The journey to a world championship fell just short for the Maui team. Maui lost to Corpus Christi, TX in the bracket championship game 12 to 2 on Saturday.
Maui got an early lead and held on to it until the 4th, but gave it up in the 5th.
LB Kahahawai Kekona, the only girl on the team, started on the hill and went 4 IP giving up only 3 runs.
Levi Maddela kept the long ball streak, hitting a solo HR in the 4th.
