Wailuku’s Printhouse Maui Burglarized Twice

A small business in Wailuku is hoping to get the word out about neighborhood crime after being burglarized twice in as many weeks.

Printhouse Maui, a family-run custom screen print shop in the Wailuku Business Park, reported forced entry break-ins on Thursday, Feb. 4, and Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016.

Store owners say the break-ins likely occurred before the sun came up, between 2 a.m. and 10 a.m. on both occasions.

Printhouse Maui is located on the second floor above 7 pools hostess bar in Wailuku. During the second break-in, the suspect(s) used a ladder to climb into a second story window.

In the first incident, the suspect(s) broke through the front door of the business, which owners tell us “was a bit old, but was locked.”  A decorative machete, valued at around $150 was taken off of the wall and other items of value were oddly placed within.

Owners had the door replaced with a stronger one and had brand new deadbolts and locks installed.

In the second incident, owners say the suspect(s) went to the back of the building and grabbed a ladder that workers had left behind, and climbed to a second floor 1.5 ft X 1.5 ft bathroom window for entry.

This time, the suspect(s) reportedly stole a brand new Wii U system valued at $300, that the owners used to entertain their 8 and 10 year old sons. Also stolen, was $500 worth of apparel from the showroom, as well as miscellaneous shirts and fleece items.

While the incidents are under investigation and reports have been filed with Maui police, shop owners say, “It is our belief that the crime was committed by some guys who came into our shop two weeks before trying to sell us a security system.”

Store owners say they believe the sales associates with the security company are using high pressure sales tactics and intimidation to get customers.

The allegations have not been confirmed by police, and the case remains under investigation.
