Sex Assault Topic of Panel Discussion/Film

The Seabury Hall Parent’s Organization in recognition of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, presents a free screening of The Hunting Ground, an award-winning film about the courageous fight for awareness of sexual assaults on college campuses.

The special 40-minute edited version of the film is suitable for high school age and older audiences.

It will be presented from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21 at the Cooper House Dining Hall on the Seabury Hall campus.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion by experts.

The Seabury Hall Parent’s Organization listed the following data compiled by filmmakers of The Hunting Ground:

• Teens 16 to 19 years of age were 3.5 times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault.

• In college, 1 in 5 women is sexually assaulted.

• Most often it happens in the freshman or sophomore year.

• 5% of college men say they are survivors of sexual assault.
