Maui Nō Ka ʻOi: Ranked Best Island in US—Again

Maui was ranked “Best Island in the U.S.” for its 23rd consecutive year.

The Valley Isle earned top honors once again in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2016 Readers’ Choice Awards.

Not only did Maui rank as “Best Island” in the U.S., it also ranked high among hotels and resorts in the Best Resorts in Hawai‘i category.

“For Maui to be recognized by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler as the “Best Island in the U.S.” for 23 years in a row is a tremendous honor and recognition of the incredible work our industry partners proudly put in to their products and guests services,” said Sherry Duong, executive director of the Maui Visitors and Convention Bureau.

“I extend my congratulations and appreciation to everyone on Maui who ensures that travelers are greeted with Aloha and a lifetime of unforgettable memories and experiences found nowhere else in the world.”

Readers ranked Maui No. 1 with a score of 88.43.

O‘ahu came second with a score of 86.91, Kaua‘i scored 85.58 and Hawai‘i Island scored 84.02.

This year, more than 300,000 dedicated readers cast votes among a selection of 7,394 hotels, 606 cities, 500 cruise ships and 236 islands in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards—nearly twice as many as last year, which resulted in 1,402 best travel experiences in the world.

Maui resorts and hotels took the top five among the “30 Best Resorts in Hawai‘i” category.

Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort ranked number one on the list, followed by Montage Kapalua Bay, Wailea Beach Villas, Hotel Wailea Maui and Travaasa Hāna.

Seven other Maui resorts made the list, including: Honua Kai Resort & Spa, Grand Wailea, Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa, Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, Ritz-Carlton Kapalua and Fairmont Kea Lani.

Kā‘anapali Beach Hotel was No. 5 on the list of “Top 5 Hawai‘i Hotels” and many of Maui’s other hotels and resorts also placed among the “30 Best Resorts in Hawai‘i” category.

The Readers’ Choice Awards will be announced in the November issue of Condé Nast Traveler, available on newsstands nationwide on Oct. 25, 2016.
