Maui Matsuri Contest Winners Announced
Organizers of the 18th Annual Maui Matsuri Festival, which took place on Sat., May 5 2018 have announced the winners of the festival contests. Contests, which provided hands-on experiences related to the culture of Japan, included art, video gaming, cosplay, and the always popular eating contests featuring Sam Sato Saimin and Iwamoto Natto.
The Maui Matsuri Festival honors Japanese culture and traditions with its theme of “Kodomo No Tame Ni” (for the sake of the children). This year’s celebrations were especially significant, as they coincided with the 150th anniversary of the gannenmono, or “first year folk.”
