Urgent utility pole replacement will take place in Makawao on Friday and Saturday on Makawao Avenue near the Brewer Road intersection.

Pole replacement and related work will require a road closure at the location (near 1202 Makawao Avenue after the Polli’s parking lot) between 9 and 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018.

Work will continue until 4:30 p.m. with Brewer Road to be used as a detour route for traffic coming to the area from Hā‘ikū to Makawao for the duration.

Maui Electric crews will also return later that evening Friday, June 15 to Saturday, June 16, from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., to conduct work on a manhole at the Makawao Avenue and Olinda Road intersection.  This work will result in an overnight closure of the area at the intersection.  Should an emergency arise, emergency vehicles will continue to have access.

Motorists should expect traffic delays and plan accordingly.

Electrical service in this immediate area is not expected be impacted and the Makawao Third Friday event scheduled will not be impacted.
