The US Fish and Wildlife Service will close Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center and the Keālia Coastal Boardwalk on Aug. 22-23, in preparation for any effects from Hurricane Lane.

If circumstances allow, the Refuge plans to reopen on Friday, Aug. 24, 2018.

“The safety of our visitors and staff is our foremost concern. We will continue to monitor Hurricane Lane as it gets closer to Maui,” said Acting Project Leader for Oahu National Wildlife Refuges and Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge. “Please check the Refuge website and the Pacific Islands Fish and Wildlife Service Facebook page for the most up to date closure information and the Refuge’s hours.”
