Hawai‘i Gas has Sufficient Propane Supplies Statewide Ahead of Olivia

As Tropical Storm Olivia approaches the state, Hawaiʻi Gas has sufficient propane supplies statewide and its synthetic natural gas plant on O‘ahu is operating normally.

Hawaiʻi Gas has supplied Hawaiʻi’s first responders such as the Coast Guard, police and fire departments as well as critical facilities such as hospitals to have an adequate supply of gas for the storm.

Hawaiʻi Gas representatives say the company is also continuing to supply propane dispensers across all islands to ensure that the public has enough propane during this event.

“We have continued to be vigilant during this active hurricane season. We have not stood down our preparation even after Hurricane Lane,” said Alicia Moy, Hawaiʻi Gas president and CEO. “Gas is a critical fuel for Hawaiʻi’s resiliency in emergencies, and we have made preparations statewide to keep our customers supplied with natural gas and propane during and after this event.”

Hawaiʻi Gas urges customers to be prepared for the effects of Olivia and monitor the progress of the storm. Customers who need their gas supplies topped off should fill out the web form at hawaiigas.com or call Hawaiʻi Gas at 808-535-5933.

Customers should also review their gas appliance user manuals for instructions on how to operate their gas ranges, cooktops, water heaters, ovens and clothes dryers in the event of a power outage. Some gas appliances may still be usable if the power goes out.
