Haleakalā Resumes Services Amid New Resolution

Haleakalā National Park resumes regular operations after the enactment of a continuing resolution by US Congress and President Trump.

Visitor Centers in the Summit District and the Kīpahulu District are open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The Pools of ‘Oheʻo in the Kīpahulu District are open and are monitored for possible flash floods. The pools may be closed with little notice when flash flooding is imminent. All park interpretive and educational programs are offered.

Online reservations for the sunrise at the summit of Haleakalā are required 3 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Open in the Summit District:

  • Headquarters Visitor Center, at 7000 feet elevation
  • Haleakalā Visitor Center, at 9741 feet elevation
  • Permits are required for backcountry cabins. Refunds for permits during the lapse in appropriations period may be requested via www.recreation.gov.
  • All Summit District roads and trails
  • Restrooms
  • Trash removal
  • Hosmer Grove Campground
