2 Acres Burned in Nāpili Brush Fire

An estimated two acres of brush was burned in a fire off of Nāpilihau St. above the Maui Preparatory Academy campus on Friday night.

The incident was reported at around 5:48 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019 in an area of dense vegetation mauka of the school.

Battalion Chief Kaulana Kino said responding units battled the fire under moderate winds and uneven terrain.

Crews brought the fire under control at 6:39 p.m. and extinguished the fire at 8:21 p.m.

Responding units included: Engine 11, Engine 3, Tanker 3, the department’s Air 1 helicopter and Battalion Chief 4.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
