Pukalani Superette School Supply Donation

Pukalani Elementary School’s 77 fourth graders and their teachers are the beneficiaries of Pukalani Superette’s inaugural school supply donation project.

Pukalani Superette, which markets itself as “Your Easy Does it Place,” delivered an assortment of student and classroom supplies to the school on Friday, Aug. 2. Items donated included paper, pens, pencils, rulers and notebooks for the fourth grade class, plus white three-ring binders for all students at the school.

During the months of May and June, Pukalani Superette shoppers submitted 425 entries indicating which grade at Pukalani Elementary should benefit from this year’s supply donation. On June 15, a random drawing was held in the store, and the fourth grade was selected.

Megan Nakashima, Brand Manager & Director of Community Outreach at Pukalani Superette, coordinated the project and obtained donations from vendors.

“We are extremely grateful to HSC Office Products and Maui Chemical and Paper Products for their assistance and generosity,” said Nakashima. “Also a big “Mahalo” goes out to Akakū Maui Community Media, and the parents and community members that supported us. A special thanks goes out to our employees and customers. Without them, we would not have been able to make this donation. We look forward to growing this project next year with even more community and business involvement.”

The 4th grade children, parents and staff of Pukalani Elementary School expressed appreciation for the donation. Principal Amy Strand said, “Our students and staff are sincerely grateful for Pukalani Superette’s generosity and for their giving back to the students. The supplies will really help us get off to a good start this school year.”
