Update: 12.13.19 10:12 a.m.: The parking lot is now open.

The west side parking lot (wind surf side) at Hoʻokipa Beach Park is closed today indefinitely due to flooding from high surf, the county announced today.

The rest of the park remains open, but the public is urged to use extreme caution when using the park due to the high surf conditions.

Officials say the parking lot may remain closed Friday depending on results of early morning assessments.

The parking lot will reopen once the area is cleared and safe for the public.

Questions may be directed to the Department of Parks and Recreation at (808)572-8122.
