Maui Mayor Michael Victorino applauded the Maui County’s Council’s adoption today of a resolution to approve the 200-unit Keawe Street Apartments as a fast-track affordable rental project.

“I’m extremely excited to see the Council’s approval today of this important housing project,” Mayor Victorino said in a press release statement. “Affordable rentals are direly needed in West Maui.”

“I would like to thank the County Council for its action, and especially Council Member Tasha Kama for gaining Council support as Affordable Housing Committee Chair,” he said. “I would also like to thank the Hawaiʻi Housing Finance and Development Corporation and members of our Maui County legislative delegation for paving the way for state funding for construction of these homes.”
