“It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel Hoʻomau 2020,” organizers announced today.

“With so many uncertainties and many people in our lāhui struggling through this difficult time, we have decided to cancel this event. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We thank you for your understanding and patience as we go through this process to do the best we can for our families, friends and community,” said event organizers.

The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 28, and was tentatively postponed to June pending community impacts of the ongoing COVID-19; however with ongoing concerns, organizers decided to cancel the event.

Hoʻomau is presented by Nā Leo Pūlama o Maui, the parent support group of Pūnana Leo o Maui Hawaiian Language Immersion Preschool.

Pūnana Leo o Maui is a culture-based learning environment that aims to provide preschoolers with a quality early childhood education entirely through the Hawaiian language.
