Maui County council members honored for contributions during Women’s History Month
As Women’s History Month unfolds, the Maui Bicycling League extended appreciation to members of the Maui County Council for their service and dedication to the community. This recognition comes as part of a broader celebration of the contributions of women leaders in shaping Maui’s history and future.
Chair of Maui Bicycling League, Saman Dias, expressed gratitude for the council members’ commitment to making Maui a better place for all residents. “As Chair of MBL, I have had the privilege of witnessing the tireless efforts of our council members, especially the women leaders among them, in advancing policies and initiatives that positively impact our community,” said Dias. “Their dedication to promoting multimodal transportation options and responding to community needs, particularly in the aftermath of the Lahaina devastating fire, is truly commendable.”
Organization leaders said council members have played a crucial role in promoting multimodal transportation options across the county, including supporting initiatives such as the West Maui Greenway Project.
“In response to the Lahaina devastating fire, the council members demonstrated exceptional leadership by listening to community feedback and working diligently to find solutions to address community concerns,” according to a county news release.
“As we celebrate Women’s History Month, let’s take this opportunity to honor all women who are change-makers on Maui, paving the path for a brighter future. Whether it’s through their leadership in government, advocacy for environmental sustainability, or dedication to community service, these women inspire us all to strive for positive change. Let’s come together to recognize their contributions and commit to building a more inclusive and equitable Maui for generations to come,” organization leaders said.
