The Maui Arts & Cultural Center presents singer/songwriter Justin Kawika Young in a MACC “Local Voices” concert in the McCoy Studio Theater Friday, Aug. 23 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale online only at 10 a.m. to MACC members Tuesday, July 23 and to the general public Friday, July 26.

Born and raised in Hawai‘i, singer/songwriter Justin Kawika Young first found success in his island home. He accumulated 11 No. 1 hits on Hawai‘i radio before relocating to Los Angeles. He quickly established a following in the local music scene there and connected with other singer/songwriters including Colbie Caillat, eventually joining her band.

Young toured with Caillat as her acoustic guitarist/background vocalist and co-wrote two songs on Caillat’s “All Of You” album. In 2019 Justin and Caillat formed a band in Nashville with two friends called Gone West. They debuted at The Grand Ole Opry in October of 2019 and their first single, “What Could Have Been” hit the top 25 at Country radio.

In 2022, Young joined the band of country star, Brett Young, who he toured with for two years. While touring with Colbie Caillat and Brett Young fueled his passion, Young recently set out on a new path. He is a member of Seven Suns, a band that is composed of seven of Hawai‘i’s top musicians, but more importantly, all close friends of his.

In keeping with the MACC’s dedication to supporting the victims of the wildfires, patrons for this concert are asked to bring non-perishable items for the Maui Food Bank. Those who donate the night of the show can enter a drawing to win a signed show poster, a merchandise bundle, and a backstage meet and greet with Young.

Tickets are $35, $45, and $65 plus applicable fees. The MACC member 10% discount is available and keiki 12 and under are half price. For those wishing to become a member and receive ticket discounts and many other benefits of membership, they can log on to www.MauiArts.org/membership
