A fire reported early Thursday morning that burned approximately 25 acres in Waiehu mauka of Kahekili Highway near Maka’ala Drive was declared 100% contained Friday morning, Maui Fire Department officials said.

Firefighters will continue to monitor that burn site, making checks and dousing hot spots that continue to smolder well inside the perimeter.

Meanwhile, a separate fire reported at 1:44 p.m. Friday near the Waiehu Municipal Golf Course burned an area of about 50-by-50-feet, but it was difficult to reach, officials said.
