Maui becomes the center stage for comedy this weekend with 31 nationally recognized comedians performing at six venues in Lahaina between Oct. 30 and Nov. 2, 2014.

The Maui Comedy Festival event is being billed as the largest event of its kind ever produced in the state, with 22 shows on tap over three days.

If you happen to be flying to Maui from LAX this week, you might be on the funniest flight in transit, with 20 out of the 31 comedians flying out together on the same junket.

Beginning Thursday, comedy shows will take place at the following venues: Lahaina Yacht Club, Longhi’s, Hard Rock Cafe, Maui Theater, Pi Artisan Pizzeria and The Old Lahaina Prison.

A portion of the festival proceeds will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the official national charity partner of the Maui Comedy Festival.

Thursday Oct. 30, 2014:

• Reggie Watts with Kurt Braunohler, Eddie Pepitone, Nate Bargatze, Sean O’Connor and Ahmed Bharoocha at the Hard Rock Cafe from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $60.
• The Smartest Man in the World live podcast with Greg Proops at Longhi’s from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets: $60.
• Ron Funches & Kyle Kinane with Ari Shaffir, Kate Berlant, James Adomian and Mark Normand at the Hard Rock Cafe from 8:30 to 10 p.m.  Tickets: $60.
• Todd Glass & Beth Stelling with Byron Bowers, Carmen Lynch, Kevin Shea and Mike Lawrence at Longhi’s from 9:30 to 11 p.m. Tickets: $60.
• Tig Notaro & Kurt Braunohler with Morgan Murphy, Chris Porter, Michelle Buteau and Sheng Wang at the Hard Rock Cafe from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Tickets: $60.

• Old Lahaina Prison Comedy Breakout featuring Kevin Shea with Chino LaForge, James Mane and Ron Josol at The Old Lahaina Prison from 5 to 6:30 p.m.  Tickets: $45.
• ALOHA LADIES with Aisha Tyler, Aparna Nancherla, Carmen Lynch, Morgan Murphy, Beth Stelling and Michelle Buteau at the Maui Theatre starting at 7 p.m.  Tickets: $65.
• Old Lahaina Prison Comedy Breakout featuring Kevin Shea with Chino LaForge, James Mane and Ron Josol at The Old Lahaina Prison from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m.  Tickets: $45.
