Wet Trade Wind Weather Pattern Expected Today

A High Surf Advisory is in effect until 6:00 a.m. Monday for the north facing shores of Maui and Moloka’i. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
A Small Craft Advisory is in effect through Monday at 6:00 p.m. for all the Pailolo and ʻAlenuihāhā channels as well as Māʻalaea Bay. Rough seas from 6 to 12 feet are expected along with east winds of 20 to 25 knots. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Mostly cloudy skies and showers are expected for the windward areas of Maui County. Leeward spots are forecasted to get partly cloudy skies and scattered on and off showers. Trade winds are expected from 10 to 20 mph with high temperatures from 80° to 85° near shore and lower high temperatures at higher elevations.

Tonight
Showers are likely in windward ares with mostly cloudy skies tonight. Leeward spots are forecasted to get partly cloudy skies and scattered on and off showers. Trade winds are expected from 10 to 20 mph with low temperatures from 67° to 72°.
Looking Ahead
A fairly wet trade wind weather pattern is expected through most of the upcoming week, although winds are forecasted to be rather light on Tuesday. While the trade winds will focus showers over windward and mauka areas, leeward areas will see a few showers as well from time to time.
