UPDATE: Suspect Arrested for Alleged Assault in Pāʻia

UPDATE 7:42 a.m. 7/21/15: Michael Hoe turned himself over to police at the Wailuku Police Station late Monday night, July 20, 2015, and was arrested for the criminal offenses of: First Degree Assault and Unauthorized Entry Into a Motor Vehicle, according to updated information issued by Maui Crime Stoppers.
The Maui Police Department is requesting the public’s help in locating Michael Hoe in connection with an alleged first degree assault investigation.
According to Crime Stoppers, Hoe is accused of assaulting the alleged victim who was seated within a rental car, stopped in traffic on the Hāna Highway in Pāʻia Town at around 9:32 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015.
According to Crime Stoppers, the victim exited his vehicle, and after a short exchange of words authorities report that the victim turned around and walked away. Hoe is accused of assaulting the victim before the victim was able to leave, and allegedly fled the area prior to police arrival.
Police released Hoe’s photo today and a description.
Hoe is described as: 25-years-old, standing 5’6” tall, weighing 150 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. Hoe also has tribal tattoos on both shoulders that run down to both forearms, and the word “Nohea” tattooed on his left ribs.
According to Crime Stoppers, there is an active All-Points-Bullietin for Hoe’s arrest as his whereabouts are still unknown. Checks of his last known residence in Kahului, and his father’s home in Pāʻia reportedly turned up negative.
If Hoe is located, Maui police ask that a report be made by calling (808) 244-6400 or 9-1-1 if it is an emergency. The public can also contact Detective Gordon Sagun at the Wailuku Police Station Criminal Investigation Division Office at (808) 244-6434, Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The public is reminded that the information provided by authorities is alleged, and all individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
