Andaz Maui Launches New Cooking Classes at Ka‘ana Kitchen

Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort is preparing to launch a new series of cooking classes at Ka‘ana Kitchen. Students will have the opportunity to cook alongside Chef de Cuisine Ben Marquez, learn new skills and perfect culinary techniques.

Starting October 3, Ka‘ana Kupboard will take place monthly, in partnership with local farmers and food distributors. Each cooking class will have a different theme, from Backyard Barbecue and Saucy Sauces to Modern Luau and Shop Like a Chef.

Ka‘ana Kupboard Cooking Classes will run from noon to 2:30 p.m. in Ka‘ana Kitchen at Andaz Maui in Wailea. Each class costs $75 per person, with around 20 seats available. Call (808) 243-4703 or email [email protected] to register.

Here’s the class schedule through 2015:

  • Oct. 3, 2015 | Backyard Barbecue
    Discover new methods of grilling and learn how to make Chef Ben’s go-to rubs and marinades. On the menu: Kula Asparagus Tomato Salad, Beer Chicken, Hibachi Flat Iron, and Steamed Onaga with Soy and Ginger.
  • Nov. 7, 2015 | Don’t Be Chicken
    Chefs will share tips for handling poultry safely in addition to teaching guests how to properly break down a chicken. Guests will learn proper cooking techniques as well as the best cuts for specific dishes. On the menu: Grilled Chicken Hamakua Mushroom and Capers, Kula Corn and Chicken Chowder, and Curry Chicken Salad.
  • Dec. 5, 2015 | Ka’ana Kitchen’s Modern Luau
    Discover ingredients used to prepare traditional luau dishes and be delighted by Ka’ana Kitchen’s twists of culinary flair. On the menu: Salmon Poke, Pipkaula, Ka’ana Lau Lau and Poi.
