MEO Recognizes Budding Business Owners

MEO’s Business Development Program graduated six students from its latest Core Four Business Planning course last week.

During a ceremonial luncheon, the soon-to-be entrepreneurs received one-on-one guidance from local commercial bankers representing Hawaiʻi State Federal Credit Union and American Savings Bank as well as community partners; Maui Economic Development Board and the Hawaiʻi Small Business Development Center Maui.

Keynote speaker, Council member Kelly King shared an encouraging message about entrepreneurship and growing your business. Also in attendance were Council Members Tasha Kama and Yuki Lei Sugimura.

MEO BDC’s Core Four Business Planning is a 36-hour course that teaches participants how to write a business plan, as well as start, operate and grow a business.

One hour introductory classes will be held at MEO’s Family Center on Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and, at the Maui County Business Resource Center (Maui Mall) on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

The six-week series begins on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will be held two days a week through Feb. 18, 2020.

The course costs $300. Financial assistance is available.

Those interested in participating can register at the introductory classes or any weekday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at MEO’s Family Center.

The program is funded by the County of Maui Mayor’s Office of Economic Development.
