Maui Visitor Industry donates to Kīpahulu and Kaupō communities
The Visitor Industry and Maui Hotel & Lodging Association responded to requests from Maui County and the American Red Cross for emergency assistance items for the communities of Kīpahulu and Kaupō. The rockslide occurrence on May 11 left these areas inaccessible and in need of life-saving equipment during times when emergency services response is delayed.
MHLA successfully purchased and delivered two Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs), a $3,500 donation, to the American Red Cross and encourages Maui to further contribute to those affected by the rockslides in East Maui. For donation information and coordination, please contact the Maui County Red Cross at 808-254 – 8785 and jenny.worth@redcross.org.
“In times of crises and adversity, it is heartwarming to witness the kindness and support that can emerge from our community,” said Jenny Worth, Disaster Program Manager of American Red Cross Maui. “The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association has exemplified this spirit of generosity by stepping forward to assist those in need.”
In addition to the Kīpahulu and Kaupō Community Donation, MHLA is co-hosting The Salvation Army’s Adopt a Backpack Campaign through July 12 to provide school supplies to Maui’s keiki in need.
