The HTA released results of research that provides insight on the profiles, preferences and opinions of LGBT travelers from Japan and Taiwan to Hawaii.

The court held that for the first time, any couple — straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender — can obtain a marriage license and make their commitment public and legal across the nation.

The ruling effectively gives legally married same-sex couples the same federal benefits as heterosexual couples.

Governor Neil Abercrombie issued a statement on the topic of marriage equality, calling on legislators to hold hearings on the marriage equality bill to further discussions on equal treatment.

The state’s Civil Unions bill is headed into a final vote in the state legislature today after years of debate on both sides.
