Aloha Maui Music Festival on April 18 at Botanical Gardens

The public is invited to attend the Aloha Maui Music Festival, a benefit for the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College’s Institute of Hawaiian Music, on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Maui Nui Botanical Gardens in Kahului.

The Institute of Hawaiian Music presents a celebration of the music of Maui for the entire ‘ohana. This year’s theme is “Aloha ‘Ia Nā ‘O Maui” (Maui is truly beloved).

The festival will feature Mailani, Kenneth Makuakāne, George Kahumoku Jr., local family quartet Nā Wai ‘Ehā, Hokulani Holt’s Hālau Pā‘ū O Hi‘iaka, students of the Institute of Hawaiian Music at UHMC and more.

Hawaiian food, arts, crafts and other merchandise will be available for purchase, and there will be activities for the keiki.

The Institute of Hawaiian Music at UHMC mentors and trains aspiring musicians 17 and older, in performing, singing, playing instruments, composition, repertoire development, recording techniques and marketing of Hawaiian music.

Proceeds from this event will provide scholarships to students, and support the educational activities of the Institute of Hawaiian Music, dedicated to the perpetuation and preservation of Hawaiian Music.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate (children under 10 are free), available at Bailey House Museum and Native Intelligence in Wailuku, Bounty Music in Kahului, Lahaina Music, Awakening in Paradise in Kīhei and from IHM students.
