BMW Confirmed to be that of Missing Woman, ID Still Pending

Maui police have confirmed that the vehicle involved in a deadly crash in Kahakuloa on Saturday was owned by Jean Kini Chang, a Wailea woman who was reported missing since Dec. 19, 2013.

The 2005 BMW model Z4 was located at the bottom of a ravine near mile post 10 of the Kahekili Highway at around 1:26 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014.

Within the vehicle were the remains of a female victim, but police say they have not yet positively identified the individual or determined the cause of death.

Detectives have ruled out any type of foul play through investigation and have the case currently classified as an unattended death, according to police reports.
