Looking Ahead
Showers and localized heavy rain will continue through Sunday as tropical moisture interacts with a frontal boundary northwest of Kauai. The unsettled weather conditions may continue on Monday and Tuesday, along with periods of volcanic haze affecting the smaller islands at times. The low is expected to migrate north on Sunday but keeping a trailing rain band right across the smaller islands through early next week. Models currently show this band stalling over the central portions of the island chain on Sunday, bringing more clouds and showers before moving further east and into the Big Island Monday and Tuesday. A more typical trade wind pattern is expected to return by Tuesday night and into Wednesday.
Today & Sunday
This weekend showers are likely and a slight chance of thunderstorms will persist. Locally heavy rainfall is also possible with areas of haze due to the wind direction. High temperatures from 84° to 89°. South winds are forecast from 5 to 15 mph with higher gusts.
