Maui Woman Swept into Ocean at Kapalua

A Maui woman was medevaced to the Maui Memorial Medical Center after being swept into the ocean near the Cliff House in Kapalua.

The incident was reported shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2019.

Fire crews arrived on scene to find the 20-year-old woman already out of the water.

Captain Jeffrey Giesea, Acting Fire Services Chief, PIO said she suffered multiple lacerations and contusions, and was experiencing difficulty breathing.

The woman was carried to a ground ambulance and and taken to a landing zone at Nāpili Park where the County’s medevac helicopter transported the woman to the hospital in serious condition.
