COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics Available on Maui in October

Starting Monday the Maui District Health Office, in partnership with the Hawaiʻi National Guard Maui medics will stand up regular clinics for all vaccinations (shots #1,2, 3 and boosters) throughout the month of October.

Clinics are available at:

Wailuku Health Center
Mondays – Oct. 4, 11, 18, and 25 – 1 to 4 p.m.
Fridays – Oct. 8, 15, 22, and 29 – 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
St. Theresa Church
Wednesdays – Oct. 6, 13, 20, and 27 – 3 to 6 p.m.

Shots being offered include:

J&J (1 shot) – 18 years and older
Moderna (2 shots – 28 days apart) – 18 years and older
Pfizer (2 shots – 21 days apart) – 12 years and older

Expectations for quarantine and contact tracing and investigations:

The Department of Health will continue to provide technical assistance to high-risk partners and settings (e.g., long-term care facilities, correctional facilities) and evidence-based guidance and recommendations to partners, stakeholders, and the public to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19.

Below are changes that the public and partners can expect at this stage of the COVID-19 pandemic:

Although the Department of Health tries to contact all people who test positive for COVID-19, they have expressed that they are unable to contact everyone in a timely manner. If you are not immediately contacted or do not receive a call, isolate and notify your close contacts to quarantine and get tested. The Department of Health also provides guidance online.
Most close contacts will not be contacted by the Department of Health. Individuals who were notified that they are a close contact of a person with COVID-19 should quarantine for 10 days and get tested.
Businesses will not be contacted when employees test positive for COVID-19. All businesses are encouraged to develop a contact identification and notification protocol for their business or workplace. Both CDC and OSHA have guidance for implementing mitigation measures in businesses and workplaces.
Effective immediately, “clearance letters” will not be issued for persons who test positive for COVID-19 or close contacts. The Department of Health recommends that employers, schools, and other entities not require a negative COVID-19 test, a clinician’s note, or a “clearance” letter to return to work, school, or routine activities after completion of isolation and quarantine. Healthcare providers are best qualified to provide a letter, if medically necessary.
All COVID-19 test providers should provide information to people tested for COVID-19. The Department of Health has a one-page fact sheet, What to Do if You Have Been Tested for COVID-19, that can be printed and provided to people seeking testing.
The State of Hawaiʻi has extremely limited isolation and quarantine lodging options; persons with safe and stable housing should isolate or quarantine at home and follow the Home Isolation and Quarantine Guidance. The limited isolation and quarantine lodging available are prioritized for people with COVID-19 living in congregate settings (e.g., shelters, treatment facilities) to prevent spread and for people with COVID-19 who are released from hospitals and do not have safe and stable housing.
