GET Local Video Cooking Contest for Kids Announced
The University of Hawaii, Cooperative Extension is hosting the GET Local Video Cooking Contest for keiki ages 12-18 on Maui, Molokai, and Lanai.
GET local stands for Grow, Eat, Think Local. The contest is an effort to raise awareness of the farm-to-table concept and to promote our local producers. The cooking contest is unique as it combines technology with cooking skills.
Participants are asked to create a recipe that focuses on a local vegetable, fruit, or protein and submit a cooking video that highlights their cooking skills, and shares information on the local farmer.
Two winners will be selected from each island!
Prizes include the opportunity to be mentored and work alongside top chefs at the Mill House restaurant during a Maui Chef’s Table event. Winners will also have the opportunity to film a live cooking show with a local celebrity chef, and $100 gift cards for video recording equipment. The **GRAND PRIZE** will be announced in the coming weeks.
The program is organized through the Cooperative Extension Service with the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
Register here for the GET Local Video Cooking Contest. The deadline for submissions is November 2, 2018. An application can be found here, with contest rules and guidelines here.
