The J. Walter Cameron Center announces a leadership transition on its Board of Directors, recognizing the service of outgoing Board President Jeff Ueoka and welcoming Royce Fukuroku as the Center’s new Board President.

The J. Walter Cameron Center announced Alec McBarnet and Hideo Kawahara as the honorees for the 50th Anniversary Cameron Center gala.

Maui Family Support Services hosts the Early Childhood Resource Fair on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Cameron Center Auditorium. This free, family-friendly event connects parents and caregivers with valuable early childhood resources, local preschools and childcare options.

A public rally is planned this Friday at the Maui County Building to advocate for early childhood care and education. The event is hosted by the Hawaiʻi Children’s Action Network Speaks and the Hawaiʻi Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance. The March 22 event starts with keiki entertainment at 9:30 a.m., the rally at 10 a.m., and a march at 11 a.m.

The J. Walter Cameron Center will host a blood drive March 19-21 in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Hawaiʻi.

The Maui-based nonprofit Nā Keiki O Emalia hosts a Keiki Holiday Festival on Sunday, Dec. 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Cameron Center in Wailuku. The event is free and open to all Maui families.

Maui author Malia Bohlin will share her experience and tips on writing a personal or family story over refreshments at a free AARP Maui Café event on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 9:30 a.m. at the Cameron Center in Wailuku.

The meeting and luncheon were held in the Ka Lima O Maui’s new home at 127 Mahalani Street behind the Cameron Center.

Maui attorney Jeffrey Ueoka was appointed to the J. Walter Cameron Center’s Board of Directors.

J. Walter Cameron Center resident agencies, Hui No Ke Ola Pono Native Hawaiian Health Care System and Mauliola Pharmacy, together have administered 28,000 COVID-19 tests and 13,000 vaccinations in the Maui community. Both organizations continue to offer COVID-19 vaccinations and testing at the Cameron Center.

The J. Walter Cameron Center in Wailuku is seeking volunteers to help the Center in directing the parking of cars at the Sentry Tournament of Champions event happening during the first week of January 2022.

Blood Bank of Hawaiʻi returns to Maui in July to host its monthly neighbor island blood drive. Maui donors will have the opportunity to help Hawaiʻi’s patients, as well as help Special Olympic Hawaiʻi athletes statewide.

The Blood Bank of Hawaiʻi encouraged Maui donors to attend the next Maui blood drive from March 23 through March 25 at the Cameron Center – to uphold the statewide blood supply of filling 120 appointments per day.

The J. Walter Cameron Center received a $500 grant from the Haynes Family Fund administered by the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation.

Cesar Gaxiola, Executive Director of the J. Walter Cameron Center announced that the center has appointed Tom Blackburn-Rodriguez as its new Fund Development Director.

Under LaGoyʻs leadership, Hospice Maui has been named one of Hawaiʻi’s “Best Places to Work” twice. 

The Blood Bank of Hawai’i will be hosting four blood drives on Maui this month. 

The organization will be holding blood drives at the Cameron Center from Aug. 19 to 23 as a part of its ‘Tough Enough’ challenge.
