#COVID-19 testing maui

The rapid spread of the omicron variant has caused a surge in demand for COVID-19 testing at Kaiser Permanente and other health care organizations.

The County of Maui’s free COVID-19 testing schedule will be modified for the holiday season, except in Kīhei. Testing sites will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 25, for the Christmas holiday and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, for New Year’s Day. After Jan. 2, 2022, free testing will resume the normal schedule (Monday/Saturday in Lahaina, Tuesday/Thursday in Kīhei, and Wednesday/Saturday in Kahului).

There were 79 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Tuesday. The latest data represents a total of 1,526 “active” cases statewide over two weeks. Maui County’s seven day average of cases peaked at 57.6 per 100,000 on Aug. 25, and has been on a steady decline since the beginning of September, dropping to 6.7 per 100,000 today.

There were 195 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Monday. The latest data represents a total of 4,238 “active” cases over two weeks. Maui County’s seven day average of cases peaked at 57.6 per 100,000 on Aug. 25, and has been on a steady decline since the beginning of September, dropping to 12.0 per 100,000 today.

There were 277 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Sunday, including 21 on Maui. There were also seven new COVID-19 deaths reported in the state.

There were 445 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Thursday, including 52 on Maui and seven on Molokaʻi.

There were 569 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Saturday, including 50 on Maui, six on Molokaʻi, and two on Lānaʻi.

There were 380 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Wednesday, including 54 on Maui.

Hawaiʻi had 9,790 cases over the past two weeks, which accounts for more than 16% of the total confirmed cases for the state of Hawaiʻi’s since March of 2020. Maui’s reported new cases reported over the last 14 days is 1,124.

There were 460 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Tuesday. The latest data represents an average of 689 cases per day for the state over the past seven days, and more than 8,500 cases over two weeks.

A COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at War Memorial Gym in Wailuku. The clinic is staffed by Minit Medical Urgent Care and all three vaccines will be administered, subject to availability.

Maui County was honored with an Achievement Award in the Health Category for its Community-Based COVID-19 Testing Programs. The award, issued by the National Association of Counties, highlights innovative, effective county government programs that strengthen services for residents.

Governor David Ige today offered condolences to the family of an individual, as the state reported it’s first death linked to the COVID-19 virus.  Today’s press conference comes ahead of tomorrow’s start of a 14-day mandatory self-quarantine for interisland travelers.  

Drive-through testing for COVID-19 will take place again on Monday, March 30, at War Memorial Gym parking lot (700 Halia Nakoa Street in Wailuku).

As concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus escalate, state and county officials gathered at the Maui Memorial Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon to discuss preventative measures and potential emergency response.

Officials say about 200 COVID-19 tests will be conducted each week under the program.
