Pe‘ahi Repairs Complete, 35 Pocket Outages Continue in Upcountry and Kanaio

Crews continue to respond to a few individual pocket storm-related outages remaining in the Upcountry and Kanaio area today.

Emergency Repairs in Pe‘ahi Require Power Outage Wednesday Night

Hawaiian Electric crews will need to make emergency repairs in the Peʻahi area requiring a scheduled outage affecting about 1,900 customers from Peʻahi to East Maui, this evening, Dec. 8, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. tomorrow. Customers in the Haʻikū area can expect to experience an initial outage between 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. tonight and again tomorrow morning between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. Times are dependent on the progress of work involved. 

Extended Power Outages Possible: Olinda, Pi‘iholo, Parts of Ha‘ikū

Maui Electric is asking affected customers in the Olinda and Pi‘iholo area as well as parts of Haiku along Kokomo Road and Kauihikoa Road to prepare for an extended outage with the possibility of an overnight outage.

Cause of Tuesday’s Power Outage Identified

A support wire broke and made contact with a primary electrical line, damaging a pole near the Kamaʻole Weir in Upcountry Maui at around 2:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Downed Tree Knocks Out Power to 6,700 in Haiʻkū

An estimated 6,700 customers lost power shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, when a tree brought power lines down on Haiʻkū Road near the Baldwin Estate, according to Maui Electric Company.

Tree Branch Knocks out Power to 1,300 Haʻikū Customers

Officials at Maui Electric Company say a downed tree branch is to blame for a temporary power outage in Haʻikū on Friday afternoon, April 26.

East Maui Power Restored

Maui Electric Company crews continue to investigate the cause of a power outage in East Maui that knocked out electricity for about 23 minutes this afternoon. The outage was first reported at 1:17 p.m., and all areas affected by the outage had power restored by 1:40 p.m., according to company officials.
