A 44-year-old Kahului woman was pulled unresponsive from a vehicle after it was involved in a rollover accident on West Kuiaha Rd. in Haʻikū on Thursday morning. A 2-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the vehicle, did not sustain injuries as a result of the collision. Both were extricated by good Samaritans.
Community planting event hosted by Mālama Hāmākua Maui, Sept. 28
Mālama Hamakua Maui invites the community to a special “Kōkua Saturday” planting event on Sept. 28, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The event will take place at the Hamakualoa Open Space Preserve, located off of Hahana Road. Those unfamiliar with the area can meet at the Haʻikū Community Center at 8:35 a.m. and caravan to the site.

“We felt it was time to really get a better understanding of how much really should be left in the streams as kind of the starting point and then balance that against the other uses as well,” Maui County Water Supply Director John Stufflebean said.
New restroom under construction at Haʻikū Park

County distributes 1,800 solar shower bags to upcountry water stations

Breaking: Kamehameha Schools acquires thousands of acres at Kaupō Ranch and Hāmākualoa, Maui
Kamehameha Schools announced today its acquisition of more than 4,500 acres of land from Kaupō Ranch Ltd. on southeastern Maui for approximately $21 million. Kamehameha Schools has also acquired 1,053 acres within the Hāmākualoa district of north Maui for $13 million.
