#Hawaii Climate Commission

The Hawaiʻi State Climate Commission has released three new reports emphasizing clean transportation investments to address climate change.

The statement provides recommendations to state and county governments on how to translate Hawaiʻi’s climate policy framework into decision making and investing. The American Jobs Plan includes a $50 billion investment in resilient infrastructure, including restoring and protecting nature-based infrastructure such as lands, forests and wetlands.

The Hawai’i Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission endorsed tools to operationalize climate action. The tools are two guidance documents that supplement the recommendations of the state’s 2017 Sea Level Rise Vulnerability and Adaptation Report.

Members of the caucus say they will will build on legislation passed in recent years that “has made Hawaiʻi a leader in environmental policy.”

The Hawai‘i Climate Commission adopted a series of recommendations and finalized a mission statement to help guide Hawai‘i’s response to the impacts of climate change.
