#Maui youth orchestra

Duane Padilla remembers when Maui Youth Orchestra founder Iolani Yamashiro enlisted him to make a trip every Monday for 10 years to teach violin to youth in her music program on the Valley Isle, including King Kekaulike High School student Kisa Uradomo.

Kisa Uradomo of Maui recently participated as a member of the prestigious National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America, a program facilitated by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. She will be recognized by Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa tomorrow for her accomplishments.

A new class opening this fall for beginning strings will offer affordable instruction on violin, viola, cello and bass, the Maui Youth Philharmonic Orchestra announced.
