This August, the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA) will hold strategic planning sessions across Hawai’i to gather diverse insights to help shape the agency’s initiatives and priorities.

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) is opening a new exhibition that showcases work of one of the most significant artists to contribute to the movements of Dada and Surrealism in the development of modern art in the past century, Max Ernst.

Featuring artists whose work best capture Hawai‘i’s portraits, the statewide juried exhibition Schaefer Portrait Challenge kicks off Jan. 11 through March 19, 2022, at Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Schaefer International Gallery in Kahului. 

Japanese American artist Taiji Terasaki will make his Schaefer International Gallery debut with his new exhibit RESET/RESHAPE, that runs Sept. 22 to Dec. 18 at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center will continue its free Live @ the MACC series virtually with a diverse lineup of rock, pop and Hawaiian music concerts taking place in Castle Theater.

Maui Arts and Cultural Center postponed the application and jurying dates for its triennial exhibition, “Schaefer Portrait Challenge,” from 2021 to this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Exhibition dates for the Schaefer Portrait Challenge will be from Jan. 11 to March 20, 2022 at the MACC’s Schaefer International Gallery.

Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s popular ArT=Mixx series, a fusion of performing and visual arts elaborating on ideas in the current exhibit in Schaefer International Gallery will be held on Feb. 1.

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Schaefer Gallery presents two concurrent photography exhibitions,  running from June 23 through Aug. 17, 2018, featuring the work of photographers Ai Iwane and Melissa Ann Pinney.  

Schaefer Portrait Challenge 2018 features 57 artists and their portraits of the people of Hawai’i, with inclusion determined by a statewide juried competition.

The Schaefer International Gallery is bringing back the popular Uniques Gallery Gift Shop, the part gift shop/part gallery just in time for holiday shopping.

ArT=Mixx: Modern Heroes will take place at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Yokouchi Pavilion on Saturday, June 11, 2016, beginning at 7 p.m.

This unique exhibition, scheduled for Aug. 28 through Oct. 20, 2016, will highlight an appreciation for the skills and creativity of artists, and the essence of Hawai‘i’s national parks.

Schaefer International Gallery will present the exhibit Statements on Nature: A Survey of Printmaking Today from Jan. 10 through March 9, Tuesdays through Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
