Hawaiʻi air travelers advised to plan ahead for Thanksgiving holiday travel
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation reminds travelers to give themselves extra time at the airport this Thanksgiving holiday season in anticipation of increased passengers and limited parking at Hawai‘i’s five busiest airports. The Kahului Airport may also see an increase in travelers due to the Maui Invitational, which runs Nov. 25 through 27 at the Lahaina Civic Center.
AAA Hawaiʻi: Record number of Pacific states residents set to travel this Thanksgiving
AAA Hawaiʻi is projecting 14.2 million residents of Hawaiʻi, Alaska, California, Oregon and Washington will head 50 miles or more from home over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period, a 2.8% increase over last year’s record number of travelers.
Travelers reminded of limited parking at airports this Thanksgiving weekend
Based on reporting from the airlines, there are no major increases in the number of flights at Hawai‘i airports compared to last Thanksgiving; however, flights are expected to be fuller, meaning the airports will be busier, especially during peak times between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The busiest travel day is expected to be Wednesday, Nov. 22, followed by Sunday, Nov. 26.
