Maui island residents who are unable to pick up their eyeglasses from Maui County Tropic Care 2018 by August 19, can get them at the Mayor’s Office front desk.

“I read about Tropic Care. As a medical professional I’d like to offer my services to the military if they need an extra hand. Where do I go to sign up?”

The historic Waiola Church is hosting Maui County Tropic Care 2018, a no-cost health care clinic at 535 Wainee Street, August 11 through 19.

Although most of the glasses for Hāna, Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi have been distributed, there are still about 250 pairs remaining at the mayor’s office in Wailuku, and another 50 pairs at St. Theresa’s Church in Kīhei.

No identification is required, and no fees will be assessed to patients participating in the program. The program is also available free of charge to non-citizens, individuals with no local address, and those with no health insurance.

Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa is at the Lānaʻi Tropic Care clinic today as the county kicks off day one of the event.

In preparation for the upcoming event, organizers have released a list of frequently asked questions that may assist participants seeking service from the clinics.

The event provides free health services and screening to residents, while and also serving as rapid response training for some 400 military personnel, officials said.

An estimated 400 uniformed active and reserved rank military personnel will run the free clinics from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 4-12, on different days and locations in Central Maui, West Maui, South Maui, Hāna, Lānaʻi, and Molokaʻi.
