Maui County monitoring conditions as wind advisory continues

The Lahaina Civic Center complex, Lahaina Aquatic Center, Lahaina satellite office of the Department of Motor Vehicles and Licensing and Lahaina Resource Center are closed due to high winds and lack of power. The Kaunoa Senior Services site at the YMCA Westside Resource Center in Lahaina is closed today. While most County parks reopened today, Waiheʻe Beach Park is closed due to a broken water line, Kepaniwai Heritage Park in ʻĪao Valley remains closed due to safety concerns and Kanahā Beach Park – 3rd entrance remains closed for fallen tree removal.

Kahului Service Center’s County offices are closed today due to power outage

County of Maui offices at the Kahului Service Center closed this morning due to a Hawaiian Electric Co. power outage in Kahului. Based on an estimated restoration time of 3:30 p.m. provided by HECO, the offices may not reopen today.

Schatz secures nearly $75M in new earmark funding, including housing and infrastructure on Maui

The funding includes $1.9 million for Hale Makua Health Services to purchase and replace nursing home beds; $1.2 million in funding to Maui County to support the first phase of an affordable housing development on Lānaʻi; and $1 million for Molokaʻi Airport to rehabilitate the runway and taxiways.
