Kick-off summer at Wailuku First Friday on Market Street on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 6–9 p.m. This free, family-friendly community event will feature Maui-made shopping, food, and live local entertainment in the heart of historic Wailuku Town.

The County Office of Economic Development is extending the application deadline to 5 p.m. May 15, 2026, for its Fiscal Year 2027 Grant Program that supports projects, programs and events that create a positive, sustainable economic impact across Maui County.

The County of Maui Department of Water Supply has extended the deadline to April 24, 2026, for its 8th Annual Water Source Protection Video Contest among Maui County students.

The Maui Homeowner Assistance Fund Program, which has provided financial assistance to homeowner-households on Maui, Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, will close on May 27, 2026, according to the County of Maui Department of Housing.

The Lahaina Civic Center complex, Lahaina Aquatic Center, Lahaina satellite office of the Department of Motor Vehicles and Licensing and Lahaina Resource Center are closed due to high winds and lack of power. The Kaunoa Senior Services site at the YMCA Westside Resource Center in Lahaina is closed today. While most County parks reopened today, Waiheʻe Beach Park is closed due to a broken water line, Kepaniwai Heritage Park in ʻĪao Valley remains closed due to safety concerns and Kanahā Beach Park – 3rd entrance remains closed for fallen tree removal.

County of Maui offices at the Kahului Service Center closed this morning due to a Hawaiian Electric Co. power outage in Kahului. Based on an estimated restoration time of 3:30 p.m. provided by HECO, the offices may not reopen today.

The funding includes $1.9 million for Hale Makua Health Services to purchase and replace nursing home beds; $1.2 million in funding to Maui County to support the first phase of an affordable housing development on Lānaʻi; and $1 million for Molokaʻi Airport to rehabilitate the runway and taxiways.

The County of Maui Department of Water Supply is inviting Maui County students to participate in its 14th Annual Water Conservation Poster Contest for kindergarten through grade 6 and its 8th Annual Water Source Protection Video Contest for grades 7 through 12. Entries are due by March 27, 2026, and prizes will be given for top submissions.

Four new, all-electric transit buses will be rolling out for driver training next week and for official Maui Bus passenger service starting the week of Jan. 5, 2026, the County of Maui Department of Transportation announced.

Maui County reached a significant benchmark in its recovery from the 2023 wildfires this week as rebuilding of the 100th structure was completed, the County of Maui Department of Public Works Development Services Administration announced Tuesday.

The County Department of Parks and Recreation’s Coach Soichi Sakamoto Pool at 700 Halia Nakoa St., Wailuku, will close from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Dec. 4, for pool guard recruit testing. The facility will reopen at noon that day.

The 33rd Annual Turkey & Rice Gifting was held Saturday in Lānaʻi City, continuing one of the island’s most cherished Thanksgiving traditions. Hosted by the Coon ʻOhana of Trilogy Excursions, the annual event provides a turkey to each residential family on Lānaʻi—celebrating community, gratitude, and connection for over three decades.

The County of Maui Office of Recovery, in collaboration with Hawaiian Music Perpetuation Society, is hosting Hot Kūpuna Nights on Thursday, Nov. 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Royal Lahaina Resort Ballroom.

Nominations are open for the 2025 Women of Excellence Awards, according to the Maui County Committee on the Status of Women. The annual recognition celebrates outstanding women across Maui County who uplift, inspire and strengthen their communities.
