The State Department of Transportation today issued a statement on the status of an Environmental Impact Statement that was being prepared for the now suspended Hawaii Superferry operation


“I glad that they finally made a ruling on it.  I’m happy for all of the people who protested against it because they didn’t feel that it was right the way it was done…being shoved down people’s throats and I’m glad that it’s leaving,” said Dorthy "Dot Buck" who watched the Superferry depart on its last scheduled voyage from Kahului Harbor. The Hawaii Superferry is ceasing operations for now between Oahu and Maui following a ruling against the company yesterday. Under the ruling, Act 2 which allowed the ferry to operate prior to the completion of an EIS, was deemed unconstitutional
