The Public Utilities Commission has appointed Senators Roz Baker and J. Kalani English as members to the newly created Hawaiian Electric Companies’ Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) Advisory Group.

The Hawaii Invasive Species Council will be meeting for the first time in Maui today to discuss issues concerning axis deer, invasive species, weed risk assessment, and the council’s priorities for 2013.

The theme of this year’s non-profit festival is “Celebration, Education, Activation, Together We can do it!” The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Keōpūolani Park Amphitheater behind Maui Nui Botanical Gardens in Wailuku.

One the eve of the bill signing, Senator J. Kalani English of Maui said he was looking forward to the ceremony. He said although it “symbolizes a small amount of justice for the Hawaiian community, it is still a monumental day to be celebrated.”
