Coach Sakamoto Pool Closed, June 1 to Nov. 30

The Coach Soichi Sakamoto Pool at the War Memorial Complex in Wailuku will be closed to the public from June 1 through Nov. 30, 2019, for restroom renovations and improvement projects.

The project calls for the removal and replacement of existing toilet fixtures, accessories, partitions, showers, ceramic tiles and floor drainage to meet current ADA accessibility standards.

According to the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation announcement, work also includes repainting the interior surfaces, removal and disposal of hazardous materials, and testing and air-monitoring areas affected by hazardous materials.

Improvements to the pool include repair and maintenance of pool filters, pumps and exterior walls.

Department officials ask the public to remain outside of any construction area barriers for safety precautions and apologizes for any inconvenience.

All other Maui County pools will be open with regularly scheduled hours.
