Dec. 10, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 170 New Cases, 5 Deaths

Of today’s 170 cases, there were 148 cases identified as confirmed, and +22 probable cases were added to the count.  The confirmed cases included: 108 on O‘ahu (+10 probable); eight on Hawai‘i Island (+2 probable); 13 on Maui (+10 probable); five on Kaua‘i; one on Moloka‘i; and 13 Hawai‘i residents diagnosed while out of state.

DOH Expands COVID-19 Booster Authorization to 16 and 17-Year-Olds

Hawai‘i residents ages 16 and 17 may receive a booster dose if it has been at least six months since the completion of the initial series of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

Dec. 9, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 143 New Cases, 1 Death

Of today’s 143 cases, there were 130 cases identified as confirmed, and +13 probable cases were added to the count.  The confirmed cases included: 95 on O‘ahu (+3 probable); 12 on Hawai‘i Island (+1 probable); 12 on Maui (+9 probable); eight on Kaua‘i; and three Hawai‘i residents diagnosed while out of state.

Dec. 8, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 72 New Cases, 6 Deaths

Of today’s 72 cases, there were 60 cases identified as confirmed, and +12 probable cases were added to the count.  The confirmed cases included: 44 on O‘ahu (+7 probable); four on Hawai‘i Island (+4 probable); seven on Maui (+1 probable); five on Kaua‘i; and four Hawai‘i residents diagnosed while out of state.

Dec. 7, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 55 New Cases

Of today’s 55 cases, there were 40 cases identified as confirmed, and +15 probable cases were added to the count.  The confirmed cases included: 20 on O‘ahu (+8 probable); four on Hawai‘i Island (+3 probable); one on Maui (+2 probable); 11 on Kaua‘i (+2 probable); and four Hawai‘i residents diagnosed while out of state.

Two Additional Omicron Variant Cases in Hawai‘i

The Hawai‘i Department of Health reports two additional confirmed Omicron variant COVID-19 cases and several possible points of exposure in Hawai‘i. Health officials in Hawai‘i are urging attendees of a New York Anime Convention and attendees of Christ Embassy Hawai‘i events to get tested for COVID-19.

In Maui County, the seven day average for new cases daily is 16, with a 1.6% test positivity rate over 14 days. This is -7% from Nov. 21 to Dec. 4, 2021. For every 100,000 residents in Maui County, there have been an average of 9.6 newly reported cases per day over the last seven days.

Dec. 5, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 148 New Cases, 1 Death

In Maui County, the seven day average for new cases daily is 17, with a 1.7% test positivity rate over 14 days. This is -2% from Nov. 20 to Dec. 3, 2021. For every 100,000 residents in Maui County, there have been an average of 10.0 newly reported cases per day over the last seven days.

Dec. 4, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 124 New Cases, 4 Deaths

In Maui County, the seven day average for new cases daily is 16, with a 1.7% test positivity rate over 14 days. This is -2% from Nov. 19 to Dec. 2, 2021. For every 100,000 residents in Maui County, there have been an average of 9.4 newly reported cases per day over the last seven days.

Dec. 3, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 125 New Cases, 1 Death

In Maui County, the seven day average for new cases daily is 16, with a 1.7% test positivity rate over 14 days. This is +11% from Nov. 18 to Dec. 1, 2021. For every 100,000 residents in Maui County, there have been an average of 9.6 newly reported cases per day over the last seven days.

DOH Confirms Hawai‘i’s First Case of Omicron Variant in Oʻahu Resident

State Epidemiologist Dr. Sarah Kemble said the adult individual under the age of 65 was not vaccinated and had been previously infected SARS-CoV-2 over a year ago. She said the individual had not traveled, and the transmission is believed to be community spread.

Dec. 2, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 126 New Cases, 1 Death

There are 126 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today, including 18 on Maui. Statewide, there are 39 people hospitalized with COVID-19 including five on Maui. Two of the COVID patients on Maui are in the ICU.

Dec. 1, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 108 New Cases, 8 Deaths

Of today’s 108 cases, there were 79 cases identified as confirmed, and +29 probable cases were added to the count.  The confirmed cases included: 33 on O‘ahu (+18 probable); three on Hawai‘i Island; 17 on Maui (+8 probable); nine on Kaua‘i; and 17 Hawai‘i residents diagnosed while out of state (+3 probable).

UHMC Nursing Co-Sponsors Two More COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics, Dec. 7 and 11

The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College Nursing program will once again co-sponsor two upcoming COVID-19 vaccination clinics on Tuesday, Dec. 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 11 from 8 to 11 a.m., both at the Binhi at Ani Filipino Community Center, located at 780 Oneheʻe Ave. in Kahului.

Maui COVID-19 Restrictions Eased; Officials Monitoring Omicron Variant Developments

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino announced today that Maui County will allow restaurants and bars to return to full, 100% capacity without physical distancing requirements as of Wed. Dec. 1, 2021.

DOH Recommends All Vaccinated Adults Receive COVID-19 Booster Dose

“Effective immediately, all adults age 18 and older who completed their primary mRNA vaccinations of Pfizer or Moderna at least six months ago should receive a single COVID-19 booster dose,” the DOH advised today.

Nov. 30, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 79 New Cases

Of today’s 79 cases, there were 66 cases identified as confirmed, and +13 probable cases were added to the count.  The confirmed cases included: 23 on O‘ahu (+13 probable); two on Hawai‘i Island; 12 on Maui (-1 probable); 25 on Kaua‘i (+1 probable); and four Hawai‘i residents diagnosed while out of state.

We have not seen the Omicron variant here in Hawaiʻi as of this morning, but we are closely monitoring the situation and will identify the variant as early as possible should it show up here.”

Nov. 29, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 71 New Cases

In Maui County, the seven day average for new cases daily is 15, with a 1.8% test positivity rate over 14 days. This is +3% from Nov. 14 to Nov. 27, 2021. For every 100,000 residents in Maui County, there have been an average of 8.8 newly reported cases per day over the last seven days.
